How to Create a Europass CV: A Step-by-Step Guide for University Applicants
Creating a CV can be a confusing task, especially if you’ve never done it before. I had my own challenges when I first started, but with some help from seniors, I was able to complete it successfully. To make sure you don’t face any confusion, I will now provide a detailed guide on how to create a Europass CV. This CV is required for most applicants, so read carefully and follow the steps below. I’ve also included images for better understanding.
Step 1: Search for Europass CV Online
First, open your browser on your desktop, laptop, or phone, and search for “Europass CV.” Click on the first website that appears, and select the option to log in to Europass. Then click on “Create an Account.”
Step 2: Account Creation
In the “First Name” field, enter your passport’s given name, and in the “Last Name” field, enter your surname. Confirm your email address and click “Create an Account.” After this, you’ll receive an activation link in your email. Click the link and set your password. Afterward, click “Proceed.” You will be asked if you want to enable Multifactor Authentication. Choose “No” (since some users face issues with authentication). You will then see a “Welcome to Europass” message, where you need to click on “Create My Profile.”
Step 3: Fill in Personal Information
The first step will ask you to provide personal information, such as your full name, date of birth, address, and contact details. After filling this in, click “Next.”
Step 4: Work Experience (If Applicable)
If you have work experience, provide the details here. If you’ve had multiple jobs, click on “Add New Work Experience” to add more. Most bachelor’s applicants won’t have work experience, so if that’s the case, you can skip this section and click “Next.”
Step 5: Education and Training
Here, start by entering your SSC details. Enter the name of your school, its address, and other relevant information. For the “Study Duration,” enter the certificate publication date as the ending date, and calculate the starting date as 2.5 years before that. Then, click on “More Details.” Under “Field of Study,” select your major (e.g., Science, Commerce, Arts). Enter your final grade as shown in the provided image, and select “EQF Level 2” and “NQF Level 3.” Save the details.
Then click on “Add New Education and Training” and enter your HSC details in the same way, but this time select “EQF Level 4” and “NQF Level 5.” Repeat this for your Bachelor’s (BSc) details, selecting “EQF Level 6” and “NQF Level 7.” Enter your Bachelor’s end date as one year after you expect to complete the degree. After completing this section, click “Next.”
Step 6: Personal Skills
Under the “Personal Skills” section, select “Mother Tongue” as Bengali and “Other Language” as English. Then, select your English proficiency level based on your IELTS score or an estimated score. You can refer to the IELTS scale (A1-A2-B1-B2-C1-C2) to match your score. If you don’t have an IELTS score yet, estimate your level and update it once you get your score.
Next, go to the “Digital Skills” section and add any relevant skills you have. You can either select from the available options or search for specific skills.
After filling everything out, click “Create.”
Step 7: Finalizing the CV
If you didn’t add any work experience, you will see an option to “Hide This Section.” Click on it. If you want to add extracurricular activities, projects, or references, scroll down and click on “Add Section.”
Step 8: Download Your CV
Once everything is filled in, go to the “ME” section on the top left and click on “My Profile.” You can upload a photo here if you wish and add a 2-3 line summary about yourself. Then click on “Create a CV” and select “Start from your profile.”
Review the details, click “Next,” and choose “Yes, I Do” to make any edits or “No, Thanks” to skip editing. Now you’ll see four templates to choose from. Select the one you like, and if you want to add the Europass logo, you can choose that option. You can also add page numbers to your CV. After making your selections, give your CV a name and click “Download.”
Step 9: Update Your CV Anytime
If you need to update any information in the future, simply log in to your Europass account, make the changes, and download the updated version.
